Memorial services will be Saturday, May 13, at 3 p.m. for Donald Harold
"Don" Schroder, 71, Hillsboro.
Mr. Schroder died April 27, 2006, at Hillsboro Rehab and Specialty
Care.
The May 13 services will be at Donelson, Sewell and Mathews Mortuary,
171 NE Third Ave., with military honors by Oregon Army National Guard. A
reception will follow in the friendship room of the mortuary.
Private inurnment will be at a later date in Willamette National
Cemetery in Portland.
Mr. Schroder was born Dec. 21, 1934, in Cadott, Wis., a son of Arthur
and Magdalene Boettcher Schroder. The family moved to Oregon in 1941 and
he graduated from Gresham High School in 1952. He served in the National
Guard and the U.S. Army.
On Feb. 4, 1958, he married Roberta Goodman in Seaside. They had lived
in Rockaway, Beaverton, Timber, Banks and Hillsboro.
Mr. Schroder worked for the Oregon Journal in Seaside and then became a
Toyota representative. He also worked for Precision Body and Paint in
Beaverton for 17 years and retired in December 2000 because of health
problems.
Mr. Schroder enjoyed hunting, fishing, the outdoors, working on his
computer and puzzles. He collected coins and Pub Jugs and was especially
fond of his two cats, Muffin and Morris.
Survivors include his wife, Roberta Schroder, Hillsboro; a son, Dale M.
Schroder, Hillsboro; a daughter, Kristi Hanchett, Beaverton; a son-in-law,
Darrell Hanchett, Hillsboro; a grandson; two step-grandsons; a
step-great-grandson; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, David and Billie
Schroder, Vancouver, Wash., and Thomas and Joyce Schroder, Newberg.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Douglas, William and
Michael.
